Meet Dr. Andrea Fernandez

Dr. Fernandez originally obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the Universidad Javeriana in Colombia, South America. She then moved to the United States and completed her training in orthodontics at NYU in the program for international dentists. Subsequently, Dr. Fernandez attended the University of Colorado Denver, where she earned another Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

After practicing general dentistry and orthodontics for several years in New York and New Jersey, she found her passion and new approach in dental sleep medicine, obtaining her diplomate with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Fernandez’s main focus is treating patients who need orthodontic care with an airway approach either with aligners or traditional braces. Her other focus is treating patients with sleep apnea needs.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Fernandez has been a volunteer with Operation Smile, where she travels around the world, volunteering on missions to provide free surgeries and treatment for underserved patients with cleft lips and palates. Dr. Fernandez is also a fine art photographer, fluent in Spanish and French, and loves to travel around the globe.
